After so many years since our previous visit, there were things that disappointed us about Ré. Our return to Skipper was not one of them, the staff are very friendly, the portions generous, the decor cosy and casual. It was reassuring to go back and relive some holiday memories from our pre-Ted years.
There is plenty of atmosphere here, sat across from the harbour boats with their masts chink chinking in the wind. Lanterns and lighthouses decorating the interior without feeling twee.
It will probably be some time before we return to Skipper, but I can relish the memories both distant and recent of the evenings we have spent there. My quest in the meantime is to find oysters this good elsewhere.

Oh my all of that food looks fabulous! Perfect oysters and, well, every single dish looks and sounds great! Great restaurant find! And you look adorable, sleep or no sleep! And funny that you order the rich, decadent chocolate dessert both nights!
Glad you guys had a good vacation even though you were stuck in that ferry cabin (yeah I know what you mean) and had too many sleepless nights AND didn't get to stop by my house on your way home. Next time! xo
This one should be entitled 'No Crayons required' lol. Looks fabulous, yum yum.
The last time I had oysters I was as sick as a …..Hadn't even got out of the restaurant before I ……You can imagine the blanks. Sort of put me off. When we complained (fellow diner also affected) they gave us a voucher for another meal there! That restaurant looks lovely though. I would love to go to Ile de Re. How come everyone else can do an acute accent on their 'e?'
I think those profiteroles look pretty exceptional. Maybe I'm a profiterole novice. Shame you didn't see Johnny and Vanessa.
