The summer season is here, if not the weather and that means eating and drinking outside.
Tom & Frankie AKA “The Cocktail Crashers” have stepped up to the mark in a series of short videos for Diageo gatecrashing on unsuspecting groups announcing “Let’s Cocktail!” Their suggestions are a pimped up gin and tonic outside the pub, mojitos for the barbecue and a summer punch for the picnic, all made with drinks by Diageo.
It’s easy for our summers to get booked up with dashing about at various events so I always make sure we have at least two weekends between June and mid August where we’ve nothing more to do than sizzle some sausages, drink something cold in the garden and watch the clouds drifting past in the sky.
My dream night out in summer would be balmy weather and an outdoor concert with a picnic. I have wonderful memories of living in Trent Park’s halls of residence where in July the students had the perk of free entry to a series of (otherwise rather pricey) firework concerts. We would wander down from our rooms with some blankets and lounge on the grass with home made cocktails soaking up the classical music. Often the programme included an opera singer and when the sun went down there would be fireworks.
Alas I don’t get to go to such events anymore but I can recreate it a little with the Proms on the radio and a cocktail in the garden!

I love cocktails. I wish some cocktail crashers would crash some of our family barbecues and liven them up a bit! A mojito in the garden in the summer sunshine (am I being too optimistic for good old England?) would be heavenly!
