Oh I'm so sorry, I know just how you feel. It seems the word of the day for me today is curdle. Both my rice pudding and whipped cream (a first try at both) went that way. I've never tried making macarons but see a lot written about them on blogs. You're getting the experience under your belt that is sure to make you a macaron queen in no time. Sorry the show was a disappointment, it sounds like you were really looking forward to it.
You have opened my eyes to an entire baking culture I never knew existed. I've not tried to make French macaroons; I stick to squidgy British ones that look a bit of a mess and that's OK because they're British and looking a bit of a mess is what we do. I'm now going to have to read up more about macaroon feet!
