Long haul travel is not my thing so the likelihood of me visiting Indian or Bali is remote, less still to go there to pray or meditate.
The food however, the food, I am perfectly willing to travel in my mind’s eye via exciting things on my plate.
Pink Praline Macarons
Today I ground up some last few large chunks of praline to create a fine pink dust and stencilled it onto these macarons. An unexpected consequence of doing so was…
Pink Praline Palmiers with Krushchev Dough
You smash pink pralines up and scatter them over things before baking and afterwards you get these wonderful pomegranate coloured fragments of sugar on top.
Krushchev Rolls Filled With Boursin Cream Cheese
It may look like an organised Generation Game style conveyor belt of recipe posts round here but there’s a lot of stuff that can roll off the end and go splat on the floor when you miss the deadline for a blogging event. Often I have ideas lined up for things I want to submit, […]
Panettone French toast
French toast seems to be a generic term for eggy bread… you’d expect eggy cake to be a bit rich but I’m pleased to report that this was not sicky in the least and with a genereous coating of egg, made for a delightful winter breakfast.
Breakfast Club Yogurt Round Up
Thank you to everyone to who took part in January’s Breakfast Club… here goes with the round up, slightly later than planned. It has been a rather full-on week! You can checkout the details of the February Breakfast Club here with regular host Helen at Fuss Free Flavours where the February theme is “Breakfast To […]
Love Hearts Cookies
Today I am celebrating my first ever guest post on another blog. Right now you can find me at Maggy’s wonderful children’s crafts blog, Red Ted Art talking about these cute Love Hearts style cookies. Based on the popular sweets, they are perfect for Valentine’s Day and easy to bake with children. Just be careful […]
The First Forever Nigella Round Up
Here goes, all 45 of you in no particular order. Lorraine at Not Quite Nigella looked at all the entries and she has chosen the … *drumroll please* …
Macaron Coca Cola Cake
This picture has a touch of the Fanny Craddock’s about it – by which I mean it looks like kitsch 1970s food photography (of which I am a huge fan). I can explain. I have been taking photos in virtual darkness to the point that I cannot see how dishevelled the cake in front of […]
Cherry Coke Cake in Kugelhopf Mould
My terrifying Coke addiction – the liquid, not the powdered variety – has been mentioned before and it’s perhaps testament to my current non-addicted state that I managed to sit on one third of a bottle of left over Cherry Coke for nearly 3 weeks. For our guests at New Year I made Nigella Lawson’s […]
The Ducane Great Braxted (Guest Post)
The twins have turned into quite a nifty pair of diners, quite happy to sit in grown up chairs and eat whatever is put in front of them at the table. OK, I am painting a rose tinted picture here.
January Bookshelf – Ian Marber
Marber’s books advocate sensible eating plans that re-educate you to eat healthily and prevent weight gain. No seaweed milkshakes here.
